Time for another update.

After a weary end to 2010, I am catching up on some awesome submissions from authors. The next anthology looks extremely promising, and the artwork is simply incredible.

Submission deadlines have been posted to the main website, but for those viewing this it is April 1st 2011 for Anthology III.

2010 was a mild year. We made little profit but the exciting part was designing the second anthology and reading all the wonderful short story submissions.

The book industry is changing with an increase in POD or Print on Demand methods.

In an effort to remain competitive and increase sales, prices for our Anthologies will be as follows:

Print editions: $14.95 each. This is still $2-$4 below our competitors cover prices for print editions.
Kindle EBook editions: $2.99. The ebook market has grown past 15% of the publishing market in the last year, and this pricing allows us to reap a large 70% commission on sales while offering a low cost publication for the changing markets.

We have $0 for advertising revenue, so all marketing efforts are made with the assistance of our authors and artists via websites and blogs.

Other changes in 2011 include a restriction on royalties and authors are paid by getting 1 free contributor copy.

As always, this publication is here to grow and work with new authors to get into print.

Book sales have begun, and the Anthology of Ichor: Hearts of Darkness has been well received by readers.

However, public reviews on places like Amazon.com will help us more, and we need help with this.

Pricing for new Anthology

In order to keep costs for us to a minimum and add incentive for purchase of the book, we are adopting a standard $10.95 cover price for this next anthology. Working with the design and layout I was able to bring the initial costs down significantly and still provide an attractive book.

The proof should arrive today, I will review it and provide updates ASAP.

Author contracts are being reviewed, stories reviewed and edited,and the inside layout designed.

Expected publication date will be October 1st 2010.

Our submission deadline for short stories is this Sunday August 1st. If you have a short story you would like to submit please do so this week for review opportunities.

The story subjects we are requesting are as follows: Sands, Plagues, Demons, Gods.

Our roster is full of some excellent stories already, and they come from a variety of previously published authors.

New themes announced for Anthology II

Our Submission Page lists the themes for our Fall Anthology of Ichor. The Deadline is August 1st for
submissions.

The second book in the Derelict Duology is set to be finished in late November 2010.

Our Author line up for Anthology II includes several previously published authors from various genres. All preview copies of Anthology of Ichor: A Devil In The Details, have been shipped to stores and author who contributed.

The Marathon for Literacy held at the Art Garage was a tremendous success, raising close to $3000 to help benefit local shelters and support reading in our community.

Unfortunately photos of the event have not been made public yet, but I will post links to them as soon as they become available. Next year I will recruit other authors to read live at this event.

Just a reminder, that our Anthology is also available for sale on the Kindle for a few bucks less than the print book price, but we encourage the purchase of print books to keep the hobby alive.

1000th hit today

our website, www.UnEarthedPress.com , has just received its 1000th viewing today by one of our customers or authors. Our doors opened late March of 2010, which means we have averaged over 200 hits per month to our website since that time.
Submissions continue to roll in for our later-2010 Anthology, and it promises to be a good sized tome.

Kindle - Anthology 1 price update

I've updated the price on the first Anthology for Kindle users to $9.95. It will take roughly 24 hours to process this change.

There are two benefits to this:
1. Our royalties from Amazon will increase as of July 1st because our price is "reasonable"
2. The readers will enjoy a substantial discount over the print version at $14.95 (although a print edition is cooler to own.)

The artwork turned out great and the stories are awesome!

Contributor copies are scheduled to be shipped on Tuesday June 1st to their appropriate destinations, and should arrive within 1 week.

This title will be featured at Reader's Loft in Green Bay later in the month as well as at future conventions.

Our collections should also be available for purchase at Gen Con 2011 if we can get a table.

The price of Derelict on the Kindle has been reduced to $2.99 to make way for the trade paperback version that was released.

You don't have to buy the Kindle in order to read the ebook. Free software readers are available for PC and IPods.
